Location: Fully Remote. The organization is based in Rochester NY.

Time Requirement: Negotiable dependent on availability. 3-5 hours a week.

Salary: $15 - $20 per hour (Depending on Experience)

Job Description: The Plimpton Foundation is seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media and Marketing Manager to join our team. As the Social Media and Marketing Manager, you will play a key role in expanding our online presence, increasing engagement, and furthering our mission through various digital platforms. This job is an independent contractor position. Schedule is negotiable.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement social media strategies to increase brand awareness and engagement across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and others as deemed necessary.

  2. Create compelling and visually appealing content, including graphics, videos, and written copy, that aligns with the organization's mission and resonates with our target audience.

  3. Manage and maintain social media accounts, including scheduling posts, monitoring comments, and responding to inquiries in a timely manner.

  4. Assist with email marketing campaigns on Mailchimp, crafting newsletters and updates to keep our audience informed and engaged.

  5. Develop and distribute press releases to media outlets to increase visibility and coverage of The Plimpton Foundation's initiatives and events.

  6. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging platforms, and best practices in social media and digital marketing, and provide recommendations for improvement.

  7. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all communication channels.

  8. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and objectives of The Plimpton Foundation.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing social media accounts for organizations, with a strong understanding of various platforms and their respective algorithms.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft engaging content tailored to different audiences.

  • Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva).

  • Familiarity with video editing software is a plus.

  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Passion for the arts, music, and DEI Experience.

  • Strong preference given to applicants with experience with causes related to Native, indigenous, and other under-represented communities.
